The members of The United Reformed Church in Tavistock are delighted that, after many years of fundraising, the church building on Russell Street is to have new roof, be made watertight and become more energy efficient. Substantial upgrading has already taken place inside the church and hall over the past few years. This new work will ensure the facilities continue to be available for many years to come, not just for members but also for the wider community of Tavistock who already make good use of the facilities.
In addition to the monies raised by the members they have been supported with other funding from The United Reformed Church (South West Synod) Incorporated and a Biffa Award grant. The work is scheduled to start during August and, weather permitting, hopefully it will be finished around the end of the year.
John Morton who was involved in securing the Biffa Award grant expresses his thanks to all of the organisations, individuals and local businesses who provided letters of support for this renovation project. Also to the staff at Biffa Award, that is managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, who were most helpful during the grant application process.
